Warmstreets offer still open for free home insulation

THERE is still time for Bassetlaw residents to get their homes insulated for free during 2012 - but they will have to be quick.

Until the end of the year, households across the district can take advantage of free loft and cavity wall insulation for their home - regardless of their income - thanks to the Warmstreets scheme.

But with subsidies due to end in December, people are urged to book a survey with Warmstreets before 30th November.

The offer includes free loft insulation for any private household (owned or rented) which currently has less than 100mm, as well as free cavity wall insulation.

Households that already have at least 100mm of loft insulation but less than 150mm can pay a heavily subsidised price of just £99 to have it topped up to the recommended level of 270mm.

Coun Richard Butler, chairman of Notts County Council’s environment and sustainability committee, said government subsidies are due to end in December and urged residents to take advantage of the offer.

“Not only can they have loft and cavity wall insulation installed without charge, but they will save money on their energy bills for years to come as their homes will be easier to heat – up to £175 a year if they install loft insulation,” he said.

“It will also reduce the impact that heating their homes has on the environment.”

Householders who are interested can call Warmstreets on 0800 043 9569, or if calling from a mobile, 0333 577 9569, to arrange a survey.
