Wales: Special guests celebrate students’ success


Special guests joined students and their families at Wales High School’s recent presentation of certificates and awards evening.

VIPs included double world superbike champion and former Wales student James Toseland, world champion Paralympian Steve Judge ,chairman of Rotherham United FC Tony Stewart and the deputy mayor and mayoress of Rotherham.

“The evening was an enormous success, celebrating the incredible achievements and exam success of the students,” said headteacher Pepe Di’Iasio.

“Guest speaker Steve Judge was totally inspirational, recounting his journey from being a victim of a life threatening road traffic accident to becoming a world champion.” “James Toseland and Tony Steward are both great supporters of the school and the students were thrilled to receive awards from them.”

“Contributions from head boy Luke Cotter and head girl Rebecca Moran alongside some magnificent musical items, gave the evening some variety and humour.”

A special award was presented to one time chair of the governing body Audrey Gilbert.

Mrs Gilbert was recognised for her exceptional support for the school community and its governing body over a number of years.
