There is no getting away from it, advertising plays a huge part in all our lives - whether we like it or not.

But do we really understand how it works?

In an effort to explain why we need to advertise, Worksop Guardian’s Lisa Williams and Caroline Eden visited six local schools in an effort to educate some of the pupils.

“Learning all about the media is so important nowadays that it is part of the curriculum,” said display manager Lisa.

“So we thought the the best way to educate local pupils was to go into school with a hands on presentations.”

The schools involved in the project were Langold Dyscarr, St Augustines Primary School, St Johns CofE Primary, Norbridge Academy, Ryton Park Primary and Ramsden Primary.

“This involved newspapers, TV, Radio and the internet among others,” said Lisa.

“And we explained to them why we need to advertise, why our television programmes are interrupted and why there are bill boards and slogans.”
