Volunteers wanted for the big tree plant

The DEFRA Big Tree Plant is in Gainsborough next week with 2,000 young native trees being planted in Mercer Wood.

The planting starts next Tuesday (9th December) and continues on Wednesday (10th December) and Thursday (11th December).

Anyone interested in taking part needs to meet at the Japan Road end of the wood at 10.15am each day, with planting going on until 2.30pm.

The Trust for Conservation Volunteers will lead this West Lindsey Council-supported community task.

“We are also keen to hear people’s views on how to enhance this neglected open space,” said Coun Gill Bardsley, one of the organisers.
