VIDEO: Worksop Christmas lights come on early before big switch on due to electrics blunder

An ‘electrics blunder’ has resulted in the Christmas lights at the Priory Shopping Centre coming on early ‘by mistake’- two days before the big light switch on.

Confused shoppers were surprised to see the lights in action this afternoon (Thursday, November 19) when Dai Bradley, the actor who played Billy Casper in Kes, isn’t due to switch them on until 4.30pm on Saturday in a Christmas spectacular.

A man who contacted the Guardian but did not wish to be named said: “It’s ridiculous. We’ve got loads of people coming on Saturday to see the lights switched on, loads of businesses due to stay open to meet demand- and they’re on already, by mistake.”

It is understood the lights have come on due to re-wiring issues and staff are currently unable to switch them off. Priory Centre staff were unreachable for comment.
