The seven caravans, which were settled on the proposed site of an Aldi supermarket on Oakleaf Close, on Sherwood Oaks Business Park, Mansfield, left sometime between Monday, February 1, and the following day.

Since they moved on, new concrete barriers have also been put in place.

The group of travellers pitched behind The Golden Eagle pub, on Wednesday, January 27, having been moved on from their previous site in the town.

A member of the group said yesterday that they were going to move on.

He said: “We know it’s private land, that’s why we keep moving.”

Nottinghamshire County Council said they were aware of the group, but did not be issue an order to move on as it was the responsibility of the landowners.

The road, owned as part of land just off Southwell Road West, is to become an entry point for a new Aldi store.

Site owners, Regal Sherwood Oaks, were unavailable for comment.
