The day included a beach party, raffles with great prizes, lots of bargains and even a bath full of baked beans.

Brave nine-year-old Connor Welch was going to soak in a bathtub full of baked beans at the store’s window with help from his five-year-old younger brother Corey.

Shop manager, Mandy Welch, who is also Connor’s mum, said: “We wanted to do something different to celebrate Sense’s 60th birthday.”

“Connor always likes a challenge and all things messy and he was thrilled when I told him he was finally allowed to make a huge mess with his food but for a good cause this time.”

“Despite his young age he’s very keen to help others and was extremely excited to be the star of the party.”

The Sense charity shop reopened last year after it was severely damaged in a fire two years ago.

The shop raises vital funds for national charity Sense that has been supporting children and adults who are both deaf and blind for 60 years.

The Sense shop is in Silver Street, Gainsborough.
