The beginning of spring has been marked with the birth of four 'adorable and fluffy' lambs at a Mansfield farm.

White Post Farm, in Farnsfield, has welcomed a set of quadruplet lambs as the first newborns of the season - and hundreds more could arrive over the Easter period.

Anthony Moore, a manager at the farm, said it was an exciting time of year for staff and visitors.

He said: “It’s a really great time of year for us because it energises us all.

“The sun is out and we’ve got four little lambs bouncing around... Spring is certainly on the way.

“They arrived a little bit earlier than we expected but they are all really healthy.

“They are absolutely adorable.

“They are classic lambs - little white fluffy things.”

The newborns were also the first ever set of quadruplet lambs to be born at White Post in the 28 years it has been open.

Anthony added: “Quadruplets are very rare so it’s exciting for us.

“We are giving them a bit of a hand because four babies is hard work for mum.

“Our team of animal carers are giving them a bit of extra milk and supplementing their food just to make sure they have got the best possible start to life.

“They are four perfect little lambs.”

The lambs were born without any help from farm staff in the early hours of Mothers’ Day on Sunday, March 6.

And there are plenty more on the way, with more than 70 pregnant sheep expected to give birth at the farm within the next month, the whole Easter period should be full of lambs.

Anthony laughed and said: “If they all have four we might be in a bit of bother.”

From insects and birds, to rodents and reptiles - the farm is also home to hundreds of other creatures and animals, available to visit all year round.
