Coun Alan Rhodes has spoken as the council revealed how it plans to save £154 million over the next three years - the equivalent of almost £200 for every resident.

The local authority blames the ‘devastating’ cuts the Government provides for local services and its failure to fund ‘spiralling demand’ for vital adult and children’s social care.

Proposals include axing around 800 council jobs and increasing Council Tax for the first time in four years, by 1.99 per cent.
