Jonas Westerling believes player-absence was partly responsible for Sheffield Steelers' inability to keep pace with Cardiff Devils in the season that has just finished.

But, speaking directly after Steelers' Play Off final defeat, in this video, he offered his congratulations to Cardiff, pointing out the "big and strong" Welsh side had also beaten Sweden's crack side Växjö Lakers, earlier in the season."They are not a bad team if they do that" he remarked.But he said his own Sheffield club - which went on to release him 24 hours later - had a "Lot of injuries and suspensions over the year; I don't think played with a full squad for one time this season."Westerling went on to say he'd loved his time in Sheffield and was eager to return, although subsequently that was not to be the case.
