Video: Business Secretary Vince Cable visits Worksop

Business Secretary Vince Cable paid a visit to two Worksop firms on Thursday.

Mr Cable was given a tour and greeted staff at plastics recycling firm MBA Polymers and wire rope maufacturer Brunton Shaw on Sandy Lane.

The Liberal Democrat MP for Twickenham was invited by Bassetlaw MP John Mann.

Mr Cable said his visit to Brunton Shaw was to see equipment that the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) had funded. The RGF also helped safeguard 87 jobs in the factory.

Mr Mann said he wanted Mr Cable to see two of the successes in the town who employ local people. Mr Mann also added that if Worksop needs to make ‘demands’ of the Government in the future then the business secretary will now have a better understanding of the area.

Mr Cable later celebrated the official opening of a new waste to energy plant in Lincoln that will transform rubbish that cannot be recycled or composted in to energy to power homes in the local area and then visited the University of Lincoln’s School of Engineering.
