The lorry, which overturned on Leeming Lane yesterday morning - causing traffic chaos as the road was closed off for more than 11 hours - left hundreds of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and tinned items laid across the road.

An Asda spokesman said: “We would like to thank the local authorities for their assistance.

“Both the vehicle and the stock have been recovered and are now being assessed.”

The lorry brought down a traffic light and barriers - which have now been repaired by the council

Sergeant Bailey from Nottinghamshire Police, confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The lorry driver was left uninjured but was been taken to hospital for a check-up.
