Urgent call onValentine’s Daywedding plan

Romantic Nottinghamshire couples thinking about marrying on Valentine’s Day 2016 are urged to move quickly.

The change in law earlier this year means couples will need to register their intention to marry a minimum of one month before their big day to make sure all the necessary legal requirements happen in time.

So far eight couples have booked their Valentine weddings at venues across Nottinghamshire and other couples have until January 14 to register their intention to marry on this day.

Councillor Glynn Gilfoyle, chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council’s community safety committee, said: “Valentine’s Day is always popular and we find that many couples who get engaged over the Christmas period are keen to get married on this day so they need to move fast to ensure they don’t miss out on this romantic opportunity. With 2016 being a leap year, there is also not long for those who wish to have that unusual date for their wedding.”
