UPDATE: Bridge Street flooding

Bridge Street will remain closed today following yesterday’s burst water main between Newcastle Avenue and Ryton Street.

Pedestrian access is still open down both sides of the streets and a number of businesses will be re-opening.

A Bassetlaw Council spokesman said: “Due to the erosion of the sand ballast below the paved area we would ask members of the public to take extra care when using this section of Bridge Street.”

“We also advise people that it is not considered safe to park any vehicles on this section of Bridge Street.”

Severn Trent Water are currently carrying out maintenance work after the 12-inch main burst, affecting 3,000 properties yesterday.

A spokesman said: ““A team of engineers are currently in Worksop finalising work to restore water following reports of a burst yesterday afternoon.”

“The 12-inch pipe has been repaired and the incident is not connected to ongoing work in the area.”

Friday’s Worksop Market is unaffected and will operate as normal.
