Violence erupted outside a London tube station this evening, and soon spread to nearby streets.

There were major disturbances in Walthamstow in East London this evening.
There were major disturbances in Walthamstow in East London this evening.

The trouble started at around 5pm outside Walthamstow Central station in East London.

At it's height dozens of people were involved in the disturbances, which have continued throughout the evening.

Riot police were called to deal with the troublemakers.
