A 36-year-old man was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work after being found in possession of a dangerous lock knife.
Paul Bingham, of Egmanton Road, Tuxford, pleaded guilty to the offence at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard how police searched Bingham after being alerted to his presence in a car park, and found the knife, which he described as a ‘nasty little thing.’
Mitigating, Ian Pridham told the court Bingham had had car trouble and gathered tools together to fix it, gathering the knife by mistake.
He said his client was as surprised as police to find the knife, and had no intention of using it in public.
