The Turbine Innovation Business Centre, based in the Shireoaks Triangle Business Park, is currently enjoying 95 per cent occupancy - the highest rate in the centre’s nine year history.

The current success has captured the attention of Notts County Council’s new chair of the economic development committee.

Coun Diana Meale, elected in May, met tenants on Tuesday 23rd July to discover the secret to beating the recession and continuing to grow.

Around 40 businesses as diverse as solar energy company i-Power Systems and men’s underwear firm Giggleberries, are based at the Turbine Centre, which opened for business in 2005.

The centre claims to offer a community environment for businesses, including free business support, encouragement of in-centre trading and the potential for short-term licence agreements.

Centre manager Paul Hastings said: “It was great to meet and welcome Coun Meale.”

“It’s great to see the spotlight on Worksop and local business people, and to highlight some really positive news for our local economy.”

The Turbine Centre is located just off the A57 at Shireoaks.
