Tributes paid to tragic scooter rider killed in Ashfield crash

Friends have paid tribute to a 23-year-old Ashfield man who died in a road accident in Sutton yesterday (September 2).

Craig Ashley Orme, Elder Street, Kirkby, was riding his scooter on Kirkby Road, Sutton where he collided with a lorry and car.

The police were called to the accident around 3.20pm, when the young man’s scooter was involved in a collision with a HGV and a Ford Mondeo.

An air ambulance attended the scene but the scooter rider died from his injuries.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of the fatal collision and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.”

His friend, Benjamin Swann, wrote on his open Facebook page: “I know you can hear me up there, so sad to here the tragic news wish I could have said goodbye.

“I know you wouldn’t want me or anyone to be to upset about the whole thing so I am just going say am you were the best of best friends and always will be.

“RIP my brother, love you man.”

Nathan Moore wrote on Facebook: “R.I.P Craig it was a honour to have known you through school and all the good times we had.

“Fly high bro till we meet again.”
