Trent Valley Road Club riders tackle a tough 60-mile route in Yorkshire Dales
SATUDAY 12th November saw Trent Valley Road Club’s Justin Atkinson, Paul Brownless and Shaun Pycroft participate in the 2011 Columba Chemo Classic Sportive.
The race took place over a 60-mile route in the North Yorkshire Dales with the start/finish at Richmond Cricket Club and the ride took in a number of big hills with 1,367 metres of climbing in total.
Despite lengthy stops at the feed station Paul Brownless completed the ride with a total time of 4 hours 55 minutes.
Special credit goes to him for taking the hard route back to Richmond.
Neither Shaun nor Justin quite had the legs for the hard route back but both recorded total times of 4 hours 59 minutes.
Trent Valley Road Club is now hosting weekly events throughout the winter and encourages anyone who is thinking of joining a cycling club to come along and give them a try.
They are currently in the process of affiliating to British Cycling which comes with a lot of member benefits, insurance, discounts and training etc.
The club runs are done at a pace to suit everybody with a chance to chat and find out a bit more about what we do.
Reliability rides are done at a brisker pace in the rider’s own chosen time bands.
On Sunday 4th December there will be a 32-mile club run taking in Walkeringham, Clayworth, Retford and Leverton, starting from the leisure centre at 9am.
There will be other club runs taking place on 18th December and 15th January, while reliability rides will take place on 11th December and 8th January, starting at 30 Marlow Road, Gainsborough.
