Congestion builds on M1 following incident between Sheffield, Chesterfield and Worksop

There are ‘severe delays’ on the M1 between Sheffield, Chesterfield and Worksop following an incident in which a woman was left requiring hospital treatment.

Delays of up to 16 minutes and queues of around three miles have been caused by the incident, just north of Woodall Services between J30 and J31 on the northbound side of the M1.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service and an air ambulance are in attendance.

Congestion is continuing to build prior to J30 as the emergency services continue deal with this incident.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We received a report at around 10:30am this morning (29 July 2020) of a collision between a car and a lorry on the M1 Northbound between Junction 30 and Junction 31, close to Woodhall Services.

"Two lanes were blocked as a result.

"A woman, the driver of the car, has been taken to hospital after suffering injuries in the collision.”
