Produce from around the world is expected to have shoppers flocking to Sheffield city centre later this month.

Authentic continental treats will be on sale at a ‘global market’ on Fargate, outside the Town Hall and around the Peace Gardens in a bid to attract more visitors to the city centre.

Stalls will be trading from Wednesday, July 15 until Sunday, July 19.

A traditional German Schwenkgrille will be operating, there will be flavoured coffee beans and teas on sale as well as metal sculptures and jewellery.

Traders from countries including Morocco, Italy, France, Wales, Germany, Spain, Greece and Belgium will be bringing their wares to the city centre in a bid to offer Sheffield shoppers an alternative experience.

Matthew Hartwell, who manages the Market Place global market, said: “Market Place and its continental traders are delighted to be returning to Sheffield this July as it is a very popular city with plenty of culture.

“Sheffield offers traders a fantastic space to show the best of what they have to offer whilst creating a vibrant atmosphere as we celebrate all the exciting different countries being represented.

“Visit the continental market, have a taste of our food, browse our products and of course, don’t be afraid to ask questions - our traders are always happy to help.”

The market is one of a number of city centre events organised to try to attract more people into the city centre.

Island Spice Grill, which will be bringing Jamaican cuisine to Sheffield, said: “We are very excited to be returning to Sheffield as the people are very friendly and we always get a great reception.”

The stalls will trade from at 9am until 5.30pm on Wednesday, July 15 until Saturday, July 19 and from 10am until 5pm on the Sunday.
