Toy appeal is a record breaker

It has been a record breaking year for the David Hawke Toy Appeal, with over 1,200 gifts donated.

The annual appeal has been running for 21 years to help bring a little Christmas cheer to underprivileged children in Bassetlaw.

The estate agency works with Bassetlaw Social Services to distribute the toys to youngsters across the district in time for Christmas Day.

“Our Toy Appeal closed on Monday and we have been amazed by the response,” said office manager Val Casey. “So far we have received over 1,200 gifts and presents for the children.”

“This has beaten the target that we had set for 1000 presents, so on behalf of all the needy children of Bassetlaw that will wake up with a visit from Santa, we would like to say a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts as without you all this would not have been possible.”

Each person who donated a toy received a raffle ticket to win two £50 shopping vouchers, and to mark the end of the appeal the winner was drawn on Monday.

“We would like to send a really big thank you to the people of Worksop including businesses who have made our Toy Appeal for the needy children of Bassetlaw a record breaking year,” added Val.

She also gave a special thank you to Wilkinsons and A1 Housing.
