Top award for special Maltby PCSO

A MALTBY Police Community Support Officer is officially one of the best on the beat.

Jacqui Millward was named PSCO of the year for the Rotherham district at a recent South Yorkshire Police awards night.

She was put forward for the award by her Sergeant Suzanne Snowdon and was delighted to be named the winner. However she felt the award was a reflection on all the hard work her team does.

PSCO Millward has been part of the Wentworth Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team, based at Maltby Police Station, for six years.

She said: “It is very nice to be appreciated. I do love my job and the community I work within. It is always nice to make a difference.”

Maltby Town councillor Keith Stringer congratulated Jacqui on the award.

He said: “It’s good for Jacqui, it’s good for the PCSO team and it’s very good for Maltby. Like all the other members, Jacqui has always been friendly and approachable. It is always good for the people in the area to know that Jacqui and her team are there whenever we need help or advice.”

“Their regular appearances on the streets and when supporting community group meetings etc is very assuring to everybody. It also helps to alleviate the fear of crime knowing that they’re around.”
