Todwick: Appeal after elderly man injured in A57 crash

Police are appealing for information after an elderly man was injured in a serious crash on the A57.

The accident happened around 4.10pm yesterday (Thursday) and closed the road in both directions for several hours.

A 76-year-old man from Sheffield was driving a silver Ford Focus along the A57 from the direction of Todwick crossroads.

Police believe the Focus crossed into the opposite lane when it was driving round a sharp bend.

The car collided with a HGV that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The elderly man was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital suffering from chest pains. The driver of the HGV, a 54-year-old man from Worksop, was not injured.
