There were chances at both ends of the field to win it in the closing stages, before the visitors came on strong in the closing stages.

Denton said: “We knew that they were going to be a tough side. They’re two leagues above and you could tell that with their fitness but we matched them.

“I was delighted at half-time because we had held our own.

“In the second half the keeper made a good save from the penalty and we could have won 1-0, but you don’t get any points in pre-season so it’s just about being tested and make sure we’re in and around and competing with teams like Mickleover Sports.

“There were long periods of time where they kept the ball but we also looked good on the ball and going forward.

“The shirts are always up for grabs and if people aren’t willing to work for them then I’ll be having them back.

“I have an idea who is in my 16 but they’re one or two on holiday who will need to fight and get back up to scratch and compete with these lads who played today as no one is guaranteed a starting spot for Worksop Town’

“I don’t want to change it to much, I need to put out players who’ll be on the field for long periods of time so it won’t be a big change but still looking to give more players more minutes.
