Tigers boss not happy with individual errors

Tigers suffered a 3-1 loss at Bridlington Town on Tuesday night to leave them 11th in the NCEL Premier standings ahead of Saturday’s match at Athersley Recreation.

The defeat to Bridlington, now just above Worksop in ninth, was a fourth consecutive loss for Milligan which began when Tigers were knocked out of the NCEL Cup by the same opponents.

Milligan said: “It was disappointing to lose. You can play as well as you want first half, it’s got to be a 90-minute performance.

“The thing that’s killing us is the individual errors, we’ve got to cut out the individual errors and people have to take responsibility and ownership for things that are happening on the pitch.

“The first goal came from a deflection, the second came from the keeper’s side and the third goal your chasing the game anyway.

“They never tore us apart with their slick passing, but first half we did okay, it’s that second half which let us down and like we said in the dressing room it should hurt them.

“Their third goal was so frustrating. We had possession and gave the ball away. It’s not having a go at individuals but they have to learn from these mistakes - you can make mistakes but it’s further up the pitch where you won’t get punished.”

And added: “The fans were brilliant again, they’ve travelled this far on a Tuesday night, they really are dynamite, even when we were 3-1 down we could hear them getting behind the lads.”
