Three times over limit

An Ulley mum of two who lost her job following a drink-driving offence was fighting for her life in hospital, a court heard.

Connell Michelle Pearson, 50, of Poynton Way, admitted to driving erratically in Chesterfield at 2.30pm on 27th April. Chesterfield magistrates heard how Pearson gave a reading of 118mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath - more than three times over the legal limit.

The court was told she missed a previous court hearing because she was on a ventilator in hospital, fighting for her life.

Kevin Tomlinson, defending, said: “A letter from her GP details a number of significant health issues including type one diabetes.”
