Thief stole food so she could eat

A ‘NOMADIC’ lifestyle landed a Retford woman in court for theft.

Kim Lewis, 58, of Daneshill Road, admitted stealing £39.64 worth of groceries from Morrissons on 23rd March.

Ian Pridham, defending, told Worksop Magistrates Court it was an ‘offence of necessity’.

“She describes herself as having a nomadic lifestyle as she travels round the country in a caravan,” he said.

He told the court she had been the victim of a burglary and had gone into Retford to speak to police. She took the items as she had no money to buy food.

She was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
