The sun was shining for Gainsborough Town Council’s Armed Forces and Community Day.
The event was held at Marshalls Sports Field on Saturday, June 30, with money raised donated to Armed forces organisations.
Coun Caz Davies said: “In attendance we had soldiers from the Royal Engineers, RAF personnel from Scampton, members of The Royal British Legion, past Veterans and numerous community organisations throughout the town.
“This year we were also lucky enough to have reenactors from The American Civil War Society who provided an exciting and loud opening ceremony with four heavy Artillery opening the show.
“Other groups included East Anglican Napoleonic, soliders from the American War of Independants, A 17th Century crafts man.
“We also had various groups performing on the stage.
“We had a rock band to liven things up early afternoon called Ferrocene who were brilliant.
“We also had various local artist performing solo songs including Bryony Roberts, Dave Evans and Darren Porter.”
There was an Act of Remembrance by the Royal British Legion which was attended by the district Chairman, Deputy Lord Left Tennant and the Mayor of Gainsborough.
Caz added: “All this could not happen without the help and support of the volunteers who worked their socks off setting up the event.
“The help and support from the Town Council staff also made the event run smoothly.”
