The sun shines down on Sturton

HUNDREDS flocked to Sturton and Stow as glorious sunshine bathed a variety of special events.

This weekend saw the annual Sturton by Stow Agricultural Show as well as the Sturton, Stow and District Plough Match.

As well as other stalls and activities, the Agricultural Show brought together local residents who took home prizes for showing off what they could grow.

Meanwhile, the famous Plough Match certainly pulled in the visitors.

District Plough Society secretary Lorna Darby said it was a wonderful day.

“It was an unseasonably hot day, and definitely the hottest we’ve ever had,” she said.

“Even though it was so hot and dry, the ground ploughed really well and we had a great day.”

There were 11 classes of ploughing on display, including crawlers, tractors, and vintage horse-drawn ploughs.

“Everyone had such a lovely time,” she said.

“Quite a few spectators came and sat out in the sun with refreshments, enjoyed the sunshine and the beautiful setting over everything.”
