Tesco needs help fundraising

RESIDENTS in Dinnington and Maltby who were inspired by the tremendous efforts of Olympic volunteers this summer have a chance to do their bit.

Every Penny Counts is a series of collections taking place at Tesco stores around the country, which is raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The charity is looking for enthusiastic people to come down to their local store to help out for just three hours - or more if they wish.

Collections are happening at the Tesco store on Undergate Road, in Dinnington and on the High Street in Maltby from Friday 26th October to Sunday 28th October.

Money raised during the weekend will contribute to the £10 million record target that Tesco staff across the country are aiming to hit for Cancer Research UK Tesco Charity of the Year 2012.

Cash from Every Penny Counts will be spent on supporting 32 early diagnosis and detection research projects in local communities across the UK.

Claire Rowney, Cancer Research UK head of corporate fundraising, said: “Every Penny Counts looks sure to be a fun weekend and we need your help to ensure we raise as much from our store collections as we can.”

“As well as raising vital funds you’ll also be doing your bit to raise awareness of Cancer Research UK’s work within your local community.”

“As a charity we are dependent on the support of volunteers to raise money to help fund our ground breaking research.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity to help raise thousands of pounds towards our life-saving work and help more people beat cancer.”

Collections are taking place at 800 Tesco stores around the UK.
