Terry Waite visits

Terry Waite CBE delivered a talk to patients and staff at Rampton Hospital earlier this month.

Mr Waite’s presence was requested by a patient who enjoyed the author’s previous visit to the hospital.

Executive director of forensic services Mike Harris said: “We were delighted that he came back to tell his story and once again gave up his time to talk to individual staff members and patients throughout the hospital.”

An audience of 50 patients and staff members were present for Terry’s talk on his personal experience on the effects of captivity.

Terry was also given a tour of the David Wilson unit which was opened earlier this year, one of the recently renovated wards for patients with a personality disorder and the Hospital’s Chapel and prayer rooms.

Mr Waite will return to the hospital later in the year to meet with more staff and patients.

Terry said: “Each time I have visited Rampton I have been impressed by the caring atmosphere evident throughout the hospital.”

“I look forward to my return visit to meet with more staff and patients.”
