Teen fined for cannabis

POLICE sniffed out a Creswell cannabis user when they stopped a teenager in the street.

An officer on patrol in the village at 6.20pm on 20th October stopped Jack Green to talk to him and noticed he smelled of alcohol, prosecutor Becky Mahon told Chesterfield magistrates.

Green, 18, of Model Village, Creswell, then produced a hand-rolled cigarette and cannabis within a cling film wrap.

John Wilford, defending, said: “Police smelled cannabis on him, not alcohol. He uses cannabis occasionally and it was a very small amount for personal use.”

Green admitted possessing cannabis. He was fined £81 and ordered to pay £85 court costs. Magistrates also ordered that the cannabis be destroyed.
