Teeing off in memory of Peter

Peter had been a member of the Cannon Golf Society for over 30 years organising matches, holidays and other events over the many years he was involved with the club.

The event was held to raise money for cancer charities after Peter sadly lost his battle with cancer in July.

Over 100 players turned out for the event and even the non-golfers had plenty to occupy themselves with as mini competitions were held throughout the day.

“It was a fantastic day, one which Peter would have thoroughly enjoyed,” said Steve Moore, catering manager at the golf course.

“We had a great turnout and I want to thank everyone who was involved in the day.”

As part of the fundraising efforts a charity auction was held after the golf events and mini competitions.”

Items including a Cannon Society ping shirt signed by Lee Westwood, a baseball cap signed by Miguel Jimenez and bottles of wine helped to raise £1,800.

The Cannon Golf Society topped up the amount to make a grand total of £2000, which will be handed over to Peter’s daughter and son, Melanie and Neil.

“We are delighted to have raised the amount we did,” added Steve.

“Everyone who came down was so supportive and we are just so grateful for all of their support.”
