Helen Platt-Hawkins has been to Kenya, India and on a cultural trip to China over the last two-and-a-half years.

The art teacher created a display to show people the culture and landscape of Kenya, the Himalayan regions, the people of Ladakh in India and urbanized China - all of which she experienced first hand.

Helen was head of art at Ranby House Prep School, before completing a masters in fine art and moving to Worksop College to teach photography and graphic design.

She said: “Travel photography allows a moment in time to be grasped for both re-examination and dissemination.”

“Not only is it possible to record the landscape, cultural identity and history of a particular place and its people; but it can also serve to evoke a very personal experience for the traveller and the specific flavour of that place for a wider audience.”

The exhibition has been on display at Worksop Library.
