Occupational therapy support worker Kendal Stokes, who works at Swallownest Court adult mental health unit, was nominated for her exceptional care of patients and colleagues alike.

Kendal has been shortlisted for an outstanding achievement accolade as part of the Advancing Healthcare Awards, and will attend the ceremony at London’s Grand Connaught Rooms on Friday 11th April.

Elizabeth Sidaway, lead occupational therapist at the unit, said: “Kendal is one of a kind.”

“She does her job the best she can without asking for praise or acknowledgement.”

Kendal masterminded a gardening project in response to feedback from patients, who wanted to get involved in gardening activities and bring more greenery to the wards.

Elizabeth added: “Her ideas have brought our team together in events and activities which patients, carers, staff and visitors have all been involved in.”

“Thanks to Kendal, patients are also running their own tuck shop trolley service as well as a whole range of other health and wellbeing initiatives.”
