Lee Hill, 26, of Searby Road, was given a nine month sentence, suspended for two years, for perverting the course of justice at Nottingham Crown Court, on February 12, where he was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Leanne Summers, prosecuting, said Hill had failed to attend two probation appointments.

She said he had 20 acceptable absences and two unacceptable absences. She said Hill had completed 44.5 hours of the unpaid work, but had not done any since June 4.

Tony Stanford, mitigating, said: “He tells me he is heavily in debt at the moment. He has two young children. He is working extremely long hours to pay off the debts.

“Some weeks he works 120 hours as an emergency faults detector for a power company.

“He knows the seriousness of the position he is in.”

Judge Stuart Rafferty, at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, adjourned the case for 28 days and told Hill if he missed one more appointment he would be sent to prison.

He warned Hill: “You get a chance. Many people wouldn’t get a chance. You have got to put your family second.

“Between now and August 8 don’t miss any appointments at all.”
