Supermarket staff in Lapland charity cycle

SUPERMARKET staff in Dinnington used peddle power to raise money for charity.

Employees at Tesco on Undergate Road cycled to Lapland to raise money for the supermarket giants’ chosen charity, Cancer Research.

They cycled 273 miles over the three days the bike was in the store for.

Customers were also invited to have a go and take part in a raffle, to win prizes donated by Tesco.

Community champion Dawn West said the event was a great success and raised £729.39 for Cancer Research.

She said: “We did the cycle to Lapland on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.”

“We were cycling from am to 6pm each day.”

“All the staff took part over the three days.”

“We had a rota and everyone put their name down to say when they would take part.”

“A couple of customers went on as well.”

Dawn thanked service manager Jackie Gorringe who arranged the event.

Today (Friday) staff at the store will again be raising money for Cancer Research by wearing fancy dress while at work.
