Supermarket helps out residents group

A MALTBY residents group is a step closer to getting a new community hall thanks to a supermarket giant.

The Cross Street and Ryton Close Residents Association has successfully applied online for a £4,000 community grant from Tesco.

Debbie McLean, from the store in Maltby said: “They (the residents group) are wanting a community hall - somewhere for the residents to go and play bingo and that sort of thing.”

The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000 to local projects that support children and their education and welfare, elderly people and adults and children with disabilities.

Debbie added: “We are community champions and we are always willing to help the community in any way that we can.”

“We want people to come forward and contact us for help whether this be for money or our time.”
