Summer barbecues to cook up cash for charity in South Yorkshire

Cancer Research UK is looking for people across South Yorkshire to host barbecues this summer to raise cash for the charity.

It is calling on people to organise a barbecue at any time during July or join in the ‘Big BBQ Weekend’ on July 11 or 12.

Hosts are encouraged to invite their friends and family to make a donation to attend their events.

Nicki Embleton, Cancer Research UK’s spokesman for Yorkshire, said: “BBQ for Cancer Research UK took place across the UK for the first time last year and it was fantastic to see BBQ heroes across Yorkshire cook up some cash for a crucial cause.

“We want this year to be bigger and better. So we’re calling on supporters to rally their friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours to pick up their BBQ prongs and get involved.

“Our aim is that one day everyone will beat this devastating disease and the more research we fund, the sooner that day will come. So whether you’re king of the coals or queen of the quiche, by serving up a sizzling fundraising success this summer, you’ll be helping to beat cancer sooner.”
