uPVC Medic, which specialises in window replacements, locksmith work and damage repairs, was set up by Richard Anscombe and his father, Rick Anscombe, in October.

Richard, 28, left his job as a lorry driver to join forces with his dad, who has more than 40 years experience in the industry.

And so far, he says the “exciting challenge” is proving to be a success - as they have already had to buy a bigger, better van to take on their workload.

Richard said: “Business is doing really well.

“And it feels so much better than somebody just handing you a lump sum of money.

“This is something we have all invested in for the family and it seems to be paying us back.”

One of the main jobs the business gets called out on is to repair glass - which they can do without replacing the whole window frame.

And although it is based at the family’s home in Ollerton, the men are called to jobs across Mansfield, Ashfield and wider Nottinghamshire - as well as other areas in the East Midlands and Yorkshire.

“It’s exciting because it could take us anywhere,” Richard added.

“And we also get to meet lots of nice people - it gives us a bit of faith in humanity.”

Richard’s sister, Lisa Cooper, also helps with the day-today running of the business, by taking care of the admin and marketing side of things.

Lisa said she feels proud of her dad and brother for all their hard work so far.

And not to forget four-year-old Alfie, Lisa’s son, who likes to feel part of the team with his very own mini uniform and tool belt.

Their success means they have also been able to sponsor the Ollerton Haloween Extravaganza 2016 - which is an annual charity event that raises money for Kings Mill Hospital children’s ward.

Lisa Cooper said they plan to sponsor many more events in the future.

The company also said a special thanks to all the people and businesses who have helped them get started - including GB DIY in Forest Town, which provides all their supplying products.
