Ciaran Kavanagh, 22, of Sulgrave Road, Leicester, admitted possession of the class B drug on 16th March.

Worksop Magistrates’ Court heard Kavanagh emptied his pockets in the visiting area of the prison. Items in his pockets included a ‘very, very small’ amount of cannabis resin a piece of foil.

In mitigation, the court heard Kavanagh had taken cannabis at a party the night before and did not have time to empty his pockets before visiting the prison. Kavanagh, who is due to start university this year, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £40 costs and a victim surcharge.
