Stolen bell recovered

The theft of a valuable bell and clanger landed a Retford man in court.

Darren John Turner, 39, of Adrians Walk, admitted handling stolen goods at Worksop Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard the bell, which is worth over £5,000, was stolen from the King Edward School Trust in December.

It was taken to a local reclamation yard that Turner had connections to. The bell was later recovered and returned.

Turner was given a 12 month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £85 towards court costs.
