They had a wonderful day dressing up as pirates before they had a fantastic visit from Janet Cutts, a volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Using the RNLI’s new Respect The Water campaign, the children learnt all about water safety.

Stephanie Robinson, class one teacher said “As the summer break is getting closer and the children are looking forward to spending lots of time outside, highlighting the risks of being around water is a valuable lesson for the children to know to help keep them safe”.

Niall, one of the pupils who took part, said: “I enjoyed learning what the different flags mean at the beach.”

Amelia, another pupil taking part, added: “I liked getting dressed up as a lifeguard and know that if there is a lifeguard it’s a safe place for us to swim.”

And Judah, who was also involved, said: “I know if I’m in danger in the water I need to wave and shout as loudly as I can for help.”
