Spiderman joins Super Mario on charity walk

Maltby Academy was awash with a host of famous faces on Friday.

Pupils dressed as everyone from Spiderman to the Super Mario Brothers as they took part in an annual charity walk.

The whole school and sixth form took part, with both students and staff walking six miles around the town taking in famous local landmarks such as Roche Abbey and St Bartholomews Church.

The walks kicked off with the first house setting off from the academy grounds at 9am.

Members of each house at the academy voted for a charity they wanted to support, including Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Weston Park Hospital.

Each house also set a theme and dressed up to fit in with it - with some fantastic and imaginative costumes on show.

Jamie Wheeler, climate for learning manager at the academy, said: “The charity walk is always a fantastic day that is enjoyed by staff and students alike.”

Students are also taking part in fundraising activities in their tutor groups such as cake sales to try to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities.”
