Sparks fly for YMCA nursery kids

FUN and fireworks were on the cards for youngsters at a Gainsborough Nursery after they took part in a special sparkler-themed night.

The YMCA Beginnings Day Nursery treated children and parents to a Sparklers Night to teach them about Bonfire Night.

Child care worker Toke Enstone said: “We thought that the children hadn’t experienced fireworks and things like that yet so a few of our members of staff came up with the idea of coming up with activities for the kids and parents.”

“We went with the sparkler theme, and had a lot of activities with torches, glitter and sparklers and had your traditional bonfire food with things like hotdogs and jacket potatoes - then at the end of the night we had some quiet but pretty fireworks.”

He continued: “It was just a great opportunity for the parents to come along and see what we do and get them working with us.”

“The kids really enjoyed it all and a lot of the parents who came have given us some really good comments and are hoping for it to happen again next year.”

Toke added: “I’d just like to thank all of the staff for pulling together and for all of the parents who attended.”

lOn Friday 18th November the YMCA Beginnings Day Nursery will be holding a special coffee morning for Children In Need. All are welcome.
