The purpose-built centre will provide a fifty-cell custody suite serving the Sheffield and Rotherham policing areas.

Neighbourhood officers are distributing information leaflets and speaking with residents and businesses that are situated close to the proposed site on Shepcote Lane in Sheffield.

The Force wants the centre to be a focal point for the services that wrap around a police investigation with investigative officers and partner agencies working from the same building.

The new suite will replace existing properties in Ecclesfield, Sheffield city centre and Rotherham.

The Force will submit its plans to Sheffield City Council on Monday 4th August.
