South Yorkshire bus operator offers new mobile phone app as payment option for tickets

Bus operator First South Yorkshire is offering ‘Barclays Pingit’ as a mobile payment option.

Last year the firm introduced its mobile ticketing service, which enables customers to use their mobile phones as bus tickets.

And now in a move expected to increase the popularity of the service and encourage more people to use buses, First South Yorkshire customers can now pay for their ‘mTickets’ using the Barclays Pingit mobile phone app.

Ben Gilligan, Managing Director of First South Yorkshire, said: “Our partnership with Barclays puts First at the forefront of bus ticketing technology and reflects our commitment to grasp ever more innovative ways to make bus travel better, easier and more convenient.”

First sells more than 4000 mTickets a month.
