Soap stars cycle through Worksop

SOME famous faces from the soap world were spotted cycling through the streets of Worksop.

Emmerdale stars Kelvin Fletcher (Andy Sugden), Tom Lister (Carl King), Rik Makarem (Nikhil Sharma) and James Thornton (John Barton) passed through the town during their 24-hour extreme challenge along with executive producer Steve November.

The group were cycling 224 miles from the Woolpack to the Queen Vic.

Along the way they were joined by cancer patient James Bolding and Dinnington cyclist Ben Swift.

The group aim to raise £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support following the death of producer Gavin Blyth, who died aged 41 from cancer last year.

Around midnight the group arrived in Worksop and cycled south through Sherwood Forest to Ollerton.

Cyclist James Thornton said the group were overjoyed to finish the cycle.

He said: “Gavin left a giant hole at Emmerdale so we did this to remember him and to try and raise money for Macmillan.”

“It was exhausting, but with our fantastic supporters cheering us along the way and knowing that every penny we raised will directly help people affected by cancer, it was worth every mile.”
