Slideshow: St Augustine’s Wildlife Garden is a blooming success

The £15,000 facility, which was officially opened in March this year, is now bloomingand proving a real asset to the school.

The project was funded by Notts County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme and boasts natural wildlife and plants native to England.

Pupils have had a hands-on role with the development and designed a bird hide which is now taking pride of place in the wildlife garden.

Year 6 teacher Laura Gee said the children have done a fantastic job in getting involved with the wildlife garden.

“It’s all about being outside and learning in a different environment to the classroom,” she said.

“The new wildlife garden is a great investment to the school and we can see it developing in so many different ways in the future.”

She added: “At the end of the year we are going to put cameras in the bird watch and live feed it in to our live blog site.”
